This last week I attended the annual Deans and Directors meeting and graduation at American Public University System where I am a faculty member and a senior leader.  While in attendance, I had numerous wonderful discussions with my colleagues.  One discussion, in particular, stood out for me concerning how we are often the obstacle standing in our way of amazing opportunities.  My colleague and friend in question is an exceptionally talented and gifted lady.  She possesses all the knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and tools to achieve at a level unparalleled by the majority of the world’s population. And, yet she, as I often do, questioned her preparedness for an amazing opportunity.  I realize we are the ones who limit ourselves out of fear, lack of self-confidence, or for many varied other reasons.  My friend’s, as is mine and your, capacity to succeed is unlimited.  Avoid being the obstacle standing in your way. With these thoughts in mind, I leave you with the following quote by Richard Branson, which I felt was most appropriate.
