Since being introduced to Grady, together we have built a fully functional and robust online training campus, Vital-Online and 27 soft-skill courses.
Prior to our relationship, Vital Learning Corporation had been researching and exploring several avenues from which to launch an online product offering. Vital Learning’s foundation for published courseware has been in the classroom for eleven years.
In 1996 we took a new step by converting 10 classroom-based courses to CD-ROM. In 1997 our research to move to an Internet-based version of the same courses began. Vital was not having success in making this a reality until we became affiliated with Grady Batchelor Inc.
Grady’s services included the re-design of the original ten Supervision Series courses for use on the Internet. We met our goal to be one of the first companies to have soft-skills training on the Internet. In order to do that, we knew we had to be online in 1998. Vital-Online debuted on November 15, 1998. The Vital-Online campus was officially rolled out in April of 1999 with all ten courses. Subsequent to that, Grady’s services have taken us up to 27 courses.
Grady has not only performed the technical and instructional design of the programs and campus, he has assisted us in the development of our vision and marketing concepts for our online and program strategy development.
This has allowed us to capitalize on the fact that we are still the only major training organization offering a full array of both classroom and online training that can be combined or “bridged” together. Our courses are in five product areas: supervisory; customer service; telesales; sales; and basic skills/WorkReady.
We have also been able to capitalize on new relationships with training “Portal” companies that are now in the process of using the foundation that Grady built to retrofit our courses to their own proprietary engines. In order to do this, Grady has stayed in constant contact with key players to keep us AICC compliant.
We have relied on Grady’s vision for the future of Internet training. We have also used his marketing talent and his talent for presenting to our audience. Grady has been a partner with us for presentations at the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) Exposition; Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Exposition; and he has served as a featured speaker for the Instructional Systems Association (ISA) in conjunction with Vital Learning. This association allows us to capitalize on his expertise to our audience.
GBA has also been a joint consultant with us on bidding projects for the development of hosted campuses with several associated training organizations. Together, we leverage both design and development talent and Internet courseware for these projects.
We are confident that our relationship with Grady has kept us in the forefront for Internet training. We always know that we are on the leading edge that when the marketplace is fully ready to launch into Internet training for soft skills, that we will be there.
